“Inspiring Future Leaders at Japanese International School”

The Japanese International School (JIS) is deeply committed to respecting the diversity of its community and providing quality education. The school aims to empower its students to think critically, create innovatively, discover new ideas, solve problems, become responsible global citizens, and achieve their personal best. Good schooling is essential for children’s development, particularly during early childhood, as it plays a crucial role in shaping their potential and allowing creativity to flourish. Schools have a lasting impact on young minds, and Japanese International School (JIS) stands out by nurturing that creativity and personal development.

Established in 1997, Japanese International School (JIS) serves the community of Hong Kong by offering high-quality education. It is located in Tai Po Kau, New Territories, surrounded by scenic countryside, making it accessible to a broad range of rural residential areas. The school’s peaceful location on the edge of a large forested area, near local universities and amenities, provides students with a tranquil yet dynamic learning environment. Japanese International School (JIS) is divided into two sections: an International primary section, with around 170 students who are educated in English, and a Japanese primary section, comprising roughly 440 students, taught in Japanese.

The Japanese International School (JIS) upholds its core values of ‘respect,’ ‘commitment,’ and ‘kindness,’ which are integral to the school’s ethos.

 Respect: For each other, relationships, surroundings, the environment, and learning.

 Commitment: To make a difference, to stay resilient and strong through adversity, to persevere in learning, to develop, to improve, to move forwards.

 Kindness: To all, to the world, to help, to support, to offer encouragement, to be open minded, to be fair.

The Japanese International School (JIS) International section fosters a small, close-knit community on a large shared campus, encouraging creative and dynamic thinking. The school’s amenities are designed to enhance learning and include spacious classrooms, a swimming pool, gymnasium, rich library with 15,000 books, student kitchen, science labs, music and drama rooms, and state-of-the-art IT resources. The school’s low student-to-staff ratio ensures personalized attention, with a teacher and an assistant assigned to every 25 students. This personalized learning approach allows Japanese International School (JIS) to meet the individual needs of each student, supporting achievement in all areas, including academics, sports, and the arts.

Moreover, Japanese International School (JIS) offers an inquiry-based international curriculum that encompasses a wide variety of learning experiences. The school emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing students to engage with subjects kinaesthetically while also catering to different learning styles. This approach not only fosters engagement but also ensures that students develop practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge.
